6 Interesting facts on email open rate

Movable Ink’s Email Open Rate Q4-2013 shows interesting facts on how the marketing email is under a revolutionary change with the way it is being read these days by the digital consumers. Mobile industry is rapidly growing with the number of users accessing internet through their mobile devices continues to grow from quarter to quarter.
 In 2013 Q4 there are some interesting facts on mobile takeover on the consumer behavior on accessing the brand data through their various mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, phablets etc while the desktop use of same material is rapidly decreasing. Recently the US Consumer Device Preference Report has published some interesting facts on such usage stats.

1.) Nearly two thirds of the emails are opened on either a smartphone or tablet device in Q4 2013 a whopping increase of 65%, from 61% in Q3 2013.

2.) Tablet popularity continue to grow – 16% of emails were opened on tablet compared to 15% in Q3 of 2013.

3.) Android keep getting the higher market share – Android smartphones and tablets represented 14% of email opens, up from 10% from the prior quarter.

 4.) iPhone users spend more time on viewing emails on their device – 38% use 15 seconds or more whereas for Android users it is it is 35% who spends 15 seconds or more on viewing the emails on their devices.

 5.) In Q4 there were no US states which were “Desktop Heavy”. While Maine and Vermont retained their position in the top 2 list for desktop use for email open rate, the overall percentage declined to under 50%.

6.) Thanksgiving was the biggest day for smartphone use where as Cyber Monday was the day for desktop users. On Thanksgiving nearly 60% of marketing email was opened on a smartphone whereas on Cyber Monday it was close to 40% where emails were opened in a desktop.
